DESCRIPTION |

The demand for companies to incorporate green energy into their buildings and facilities continues to grow. And for good reasons: a facility that can develop a renewable energy management system benefits from energy independence and reduces its long-term energy costs. In this course, participants will gain an understanding of renewable energy systems that includes fundamentals and scaled demonstrations. They will see state-of-the-art research facilities and advanced technological developments relating to renewable energy. Finally, participants will be able to apply their gained insights via conceptual design exercises that enable them to begin assessing renewable energy options for their respective facilities and other interests. |

SUMMARY OUTLINE |

· Gain the foundational knowledge of renewable energy systems, the need behind them, as well as an understanding of the economic and political context of the industry · Obtain an understanding of the benefits and challenges of the major technologies, through discussion and demonstrations: Solar Thermal, PV Energy, Hydro and Wind Turbines, Bioenergy, Fuel Cells · Learn energy management strategies including dynamic planning and energy storage · Participate in hands-on demonstrations of solar photovoltaic and power generation · Develop the skill set to analyze your own facility with software for alternative energy options |
